  Affected by heavy rainfall, several rivers in Guilin city exceeded the warning water level to varying degrees during the period. Among them, the Guijiang Pingle Station experienced a major flood in 20 years, which was the second largest flood since the station was built in 1936.   This flood disaster has a long rainfall period and a wide range, involving almost all counties (cities, districts) in Guilin City. It has caused many geological disasters. According to incomplete statistics, there are more than 3,000 landslides and landslides in Yangshuo County alone; reservoirs The pressure of flood safety is great. Nearly one-third of the reservoirs in the city operate beyond the flood limit, and 14% of the reservoirs discharge floods.

  The Guilin Municipal Water Conservancy Bureau took advantage of heavy rainfall gaps, through consultations with experts from multiple departments, and comprehensively considered various factors to flood the upper reaches of the Lijiang River such as Chuanjiangkou, Fuzikou, and Xiaorongjiang reservoirs.
