According to the city, it is the first time in eastern Japan that breeding has been confirmed in the field since wild storks became extinct in Japan in 1946.

On the 8th, a lot of photograph enthusiasts visited and used a large telephoto lens from above the embankment for photography and observation so as not to approach the nest.

Masakichi Hirata, a representative of the local volunteer group Watarase Yumizuchi Morimoritai, who keeps observing storks, said, “I'm very impressed with the observations for about two and a half years. If it grows up and lays eggs a few years later, I would say nothing."
