China News Agency, Hong Kong, June 6th: Yang Runxiong, Director of the Education Bureau of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, attended the radio show on the 6th and met with the media.

Yang Runxiong said that after communicating with medical experts, the authorities decided to maintain the timetable for the resumption of classes, and the school has completed preparations for the resumption of classes. In the early days of S3 to S5, the overall performance was very smooth and there were no major problems.

He also mentioned that there are 27,000 students taking classes from Shenzhen to Hong Kong every day in this school year. The governments of both places hope to help them resume classes as soon as possible. He said that about 2,500 cross-border students from S3 to S5 will be tried out first, but there is no definite date for resumption of classes. At that time, the SAR Government will open the Lok Ma Chau Spur Port in addition to the currently open Shenzhen Bay Port. It will be provided for cross-border students only in two hours per day.

At the same time, for safety reasons, the SAR Government will arrange "point-to-point" school bus transfers for cross-border students to reduce their contact with others when taking public transportation. Yang Runxiong said that the school is currently inviting tenders for school bus arrangements and communicating with operators on how to maintain a safe distance and cleanliness in the bus.

He continued that the nucleic acid testing of cross-border students will be conducted in Shenzhen, and there are sufficient local facilities to handle the weekly testing work of these cross-border students.

In addition, the National Anthem Bill was passed by the Hong Kong SAR Legislative Council on the 4th and will be gazetted on the 12th of this month. Yang Runxiong said that at present, the different courses of the school will involve the national anthem and related knowledge, including the mode of singing, due attitude, etiquette, history and spirit of the national anthem. He hopes that the school and teachers will teach students to respect the national anthem. The school and the teacher could not handle the situation, he thought he could seek police assistance.
