In preparation for the heat Hair cutting of alpaca, slenderly, Tochigi, Nasu-machi, June 6, 17:16

Before the arrival of full-scale summer, the alpaca is being shaved at a tourist farm in Nasu Town, Tochigi Prefecture.

At the Nasu Alpaca Ranch, a tourist ranch in Nasu Town, Tochigi Prefecture, where about 250 alpaca are bred, the alpaca is shaved every year to withstand the heat of the summer.

The shaving begins at the end of last month and is usually done by a couple of artisans in Tokyo who are shaving the sheep and staff at the ranch.

After laying the alpaca on the floor, the craftsman used an electric hair clipper to cleanly trim all the hair on the head in about 10 minutes, and the alpaca looked slender.

The ranch has been open for business from the 6th, but for the sake of ensuring safety, the shaving operation will be closed to general visitors until around 11th of this month.

Nana Osawada, a hair-scissor craftsman, said, “Alpaca has a big body, and it is difficult to cut with teamwork, but it feels good to be clean.”

Mr. Yukie Abe, a ranch keeper, said, "It's difficult to do the work while watching the weather, but I want to do my best to finish the cutting because of the alpaca."
