If the rapper did not perform live, he sent a pre-recorded message, calling on residents to stay safe, while a city citizen was shot dead during a demonstration organized in response to the death from George Floyd last week.

An ever-present virus

“Detroit is not just a city. It is also a feeling, an atmosphere, a state of mind. Most importantly, Detroit is a city where we fight for what we believe in, and we're not one to give up. And the Covid-19 doesn't change anything. We have work to do to stay safe. And one of the things we have to do is count ourselves - we have to count ourselves. So this month, we have to bring the city together, guys, ”said Eminem in his message relayed by the NME.

If demonstrations and riots have raged in the United States since the death of George Floyd, the coronavirus has not disappeared. More than 100,000 people have died from the disease in the country.
