Easing for visits to nursing homes

The directors of establishments hosting the elderly can put in place from Friday "a resumption of visits by relatives" when "the health situation allows". Resumption of family visits may be made to "more than two people at a time", when it takes place outside, and to two people maximum in a room. Provided they wear a mask, minors can participate in these visits, which will no longer be under the supervision of a member of the establishment's staff.

40 billion for sectors in difficulty 

While Emmanuel Macron and Édouard Philippe gathered unions and employers on Thursday to find solutions to preserve jobs, the government has already planned to mobilize 40 billion euros to support sectors in difficulty, in the part of the third draft amending budget to be presented to the Council of Ministers next week, announced Thursday the Ministry of Economy and Finance.

This new amending finance bill (PLFR) is made necessary by a worsening of the recession, with a fall in gross domestic product (GDP) of 11%, a deficit which will widen to 11.4% of GDP and a public debt that will swell to 120.9%, detailed the ministry during a telephone press point.

Three retractions on the "Lancet" study

The epidemic continues to decline in France

The coronavirus left 29,065 dead, according to the latest assessment from the Directorate General of Health published Thursday evening. The increase is 44 deaths in French hospitals, bringing the total to 18,715 in hospital and 10,350 in social and medico-social establishments (Ehpad), whose tuesday Tuesday will be updated Tuesday, June 9.

1,163 patients with coronavirus are hospitalized in intensive care (compared to 1,429 a week ago), with a negative balance of 47 discharges in 24 hours. 13,101 people are hospitalized for a coronavirus infection (compared to 15,208 a week ago).

Over 387,000 dead worldwide

The pandemic has killed at least 387,280 people worldwide since its onset in December in China, according to an assessment by AFP from official sources Thursday evening. More than 6,522,050 cases of infection have been officially diagnosed in 196 countries and territories since the start of the epidemic, of which at least 2,820,000 are now considered cured. This number of diagnosed cases, however, only reflects a fraction of the actual number of infections.

The United States has recorded more than 107,685 deaths. Then come the United Kingdom with 39,904 dead, Italy with 33,689 dead, Brazil with 32,548 dead and France with 29,065 dead. Latin America still suffers the brunt of the Covid-19 shock, with a record daily deaths in Brazil.

China (excluding the territories of Hong Kong and Macao), where the epidemic began at the end of December, officially counted a total of 83,022 cases (1 new between Wednesday and Thursday), including 4,634 deaths (0 new), and 78,319 cures.
