The holiday scientist: There is a thought that summer is changing lives

In the 30s, two weeks' holiday for working Swedes was introduced.

"Everyone went on vacation at the same time, it was a very ritual," says Orvar Löfgren, professor of ethnology.

For the Swedes, the holiday has become something all year round, says Löfgren.

- We're going somewhere else. This is how we can have another family, another relationship or become another person. There is a thought that summer is changing lives.
