A man who was unjustly imprisoned for 37 years became the first candidate to achieve the title of "America's Got Talent" talent program, after a performance that surprised everyone during the start of the new season, last Tuesday. Archie Williams was charged with rape and stabbing a 30-year-old woman in 1982, although his fingerprints were not found by the authorities at the crime scene.

Although three people testified that Williams was at his home at the time of the crime, the authorities sentenced him to life imprisonment without parole. After decades, an organization that defends imprisoned innocent people decided to review and defend the Williams case, to be cleared in March 2019.

The organization had already succeeded in proving Williams' innocence and dropping all charges against him, in March 2019, to release him amid a major media highlight of his human story, after he had spent 37 full years in prison unjustly.

After following the program "America Gut Talent" for years from inside the prison, Williams decided to participate and sing in the program, and during his first performance in the program, Williams dazzled the rulers with his story, then with his song, which was stopped to greet the rulers and the public. The main judge on the show, Englishman Simon Cowell, said: "What I have seen today I will never forget in my life."

The judges expected that Williams would be one of the most prominent candidates for the title of the competition, which grants the winner a huge sum of money and a contract to present his talent in the place designated for it.
