Daniël Dekker will depart from Omroep MAX on 1 September. The radio and media maker becomes ultimately responsible for the broadcasts of NPO Radio 5 and all related online activities.

"When Omroep MAX director Jan Slagter approached me, I thought: this is a unique opportunity; the offer to be able to start again in a new organization after more than thirty years," said Dekker.

"An organization that can be described as involved, energetic and with qualitative, distinctive programs. I think that my knowledge and experience are well suited to that."

Dekker started his career at Radio Decibel. After that, the sixty-year-old radio maker worked for public broadcasting for a long time. In 2014 he received a Golden Harp from Buma Cultuur for his work

In September, after ten years as a commentator and co-organizer of the Eurovision Song Contest, Dekker quit AVROTROS. The media man revealed no reason.
