A gendarmerie investigation was opened Wednesday in Drôme after the fire of a new antenna of mobile telephony and television which follows many similar facts in France in recent weeks.

The transmitter burnt down from Tuesday to Wednesday is located in the town of Rimon-et-Savel, said the gendarmerie of Drôme, confirming information from the local press. The Valence public prosecutor's office has opened an investigation entrusted to the Grenoble research section, supported by the Drôme gendarmerie group.

The operator TDF has complained and acknowledges that "the phenomenon intensified in April-May" in the south-eastern quarter of France, without however giving a precise figure on the number of antennas targeted in recent weeks.

Up to 10,000 people affected

This time it is a transmitter used for television, the broadcasting of radio France Inter and the telephony services of Free and SFR. Their services are interrupted, which could affect up to 10,000 people, said a spokesperson for TDF.

Numerous mobile telephony relays have been targeted in recent weeks in France, notably in Isère, in Gard, Jura, Loiret, Pas-de-Calais or Côtes-d'Armor.

The ultra-left track remains privileged even if dissatisfied neighbors or conspirators accusing 5G of transmitting the coronavirus are not excluded. In mid-May, an internet platform close to the ultra-left libertarian had claimed the fire of one of them in Isère.
