Beijing News (Reporter Liu Yang) Jiang Ge's mother Jiang Qiulian has sued Liu Xin for a dispute over the right to life. On June 1, Jiang Qiulian confirmed to the Beijing News reporter that he had received notice from the court that the case would be held on June 5 at the Chengyang District Court in Qingdao.

  According to public reports, in the early morning of November 3, 2016, Jiang Ge, a Chinese student studying at Hosei University in Tokyo, Japan, was killed by his girlfriend Chen Xinfeng, former girlfriend of Liu Xin. On December 20, 2017, Jiang Ge was sentenced to court in the Tokyo District Tribunal in Japan. Chen Shifeng was sentenced to 20 years in prison for intentional homicide and intimidation.

  On October 15, 2018, Jiang Qiulian filed a lawsuit against Liu Xin for a dispute over the right to life. After the Chengyang District Court in Qingdao City filed the case, it served Liu Xin with a copy of the indictment and a court summons in the form of an announcement. The announcement was posted on the People ’s Court Announcement Network, and the date is March 29, 2020.

  Jiang Qiulian said that Liu Xin's presence in court is still uncertain. The precautions in the court summons stated that the defendant (appellee), who was summoned by the summons and did not appear in court without a valid reason, made a judgment in absentia.

  In addition, Jiang Qiulian's attorney Huang Leping told the Beijing News reporter that according to the time announced by the court, the official trial time of the case is expected to be June 30. In this pre-trial meeting, the court only notified the submitted materials, but did not inform the purpose and details of the meeting.

  According to the Civil Procedure Law, pre-trial meetings may include organizing the exchange of evidence; summarizing the focus of disputes; conducting mediation, etc.
