INTERVIEW

On May 20, La Vallée (XO éditions), a new thriller by the writer Bernard Minier, was released in bookstores. For his eighth novel, the author was inspired by the health crisis to build an intrigue combining police investigation, murders and confinement. "Everything takes on extraordinary proportions," he comments at the microphone of Europe 1.

In La Vallée , Martin Servaz has no morale. He is suspended, waiting for his disciplinary council because of his unorthodox policing methods. In the meantime, he takes care of his son, Gustav. One night, he receives a call from Marianne, his ex-girlfriend who disappeared eight years earlier. She has trouble picking up, but she still has time to explain to him that she is not dead, that she has escaped and that he must come and get her, without calling the police.

It darkens. But on the spot, no trace of Marianne. He then finds himself asking for help from the monks of a nearby abbey. At the same time, crimes take place and a mountain range collapses. A strange echo of reality, the valley finds itself confined.

"The tension is rising even more"

"I imagined all the emotions, all the states of mind and states of soul that we go through when we are cut off from the rest of the world, locked up and that we cannot engage in our usual activities", comments Bernard Minier at the microphone of Europe 1. "The tension mounts even more because they are made like rats. They cannot go away. Everything takes on extraordinary proportions", continues the writer.

The ideal thriller that ticks all the boxes!
The atmosphere, the intrigue, the rhythm, everything is perfect. Huge reading pleasure.
