The Covid-19 has killed at least 366,848 people on the planet, of which almost half (177,595) on the European continent, where approximately two million people affected have been identified. Around the globe, six million cases have been identified, with a worrying situation in Brazil, where nearly 27,000 people were infected within 24 hours.

More than six million cases of contamination with the new coronavirus have been recorded worldwide, including two thirds in Europe and the United States, Brazil becoming Saturday the fourth country in terms of death with nearly 29,000 deaths. At the same time, the gradual lifting of restrictive measures taken by governments to fight the pandemic continues, from Paris to New Delhi.

Brazil is the fourth country in terms of deaths

The Covid-19 has killed at least 366,848 people on the planet, of which almost half (177,595) on the European continent, where around two million people affected have been identified. If the United States remains the country with the highest number of cases (1,769,776) and deaths (103,758), it is now in Latin America that the virus is growing most rapidly, especially in Brazil.

Country of 210 million inhabitants, the South American giant became Saturday the fourth country in terms of deaths linked to the coronavirus, with 28,834 deaths according to statistics from the Ministry of Health. The ministry recorded 956 additional deaths in 24 hours and a new daily record of the number of people infected (26,928), bringing the total to 465,166 people infected since the start of the pandemic.

Peru and Bolivia still on alert

Other Latin American countries continue to experience the progression of the pandemic. This is the case of Peru, the second Latin American country most affected by the coronavirus, which surpassed 155,000 confirmed cases on Saturday after having recorded a record number of 7,386 new cases in 24 hours. The death toll is now 4,371 in this country of 33 million, an increase of 141 in 24 hours, said the Peruvian Ministry of Health.

In Bolivia, four of the nine regions of the country, including Santa Cruz de la Sierra, the most affected, announced Saturday that they were going to extend the containment measures, contrary to the decisions of the central government which wants to revive the economy. Bolivia recorded as of May 31 8,731 cases of coronavirus and 300 deaths, most of them in the region of Santa Cruz.
