A state-owned assets monitoring and management committee of China said on a social media website that a Chinese vaccine to prevent the emerging coronavirus may be ready for market release soon, possibly at the end of this year.

Over 2,000 people took part in vaccine experiments developed by the Wuhan Institute and Beijing Institute of Biological Products.

According to the commission reported on Weechat yesterday, there could be a vaccine ready for the market soon, possibly at the end of this year or early 2021.

The vaccines developed by the two institutes entered the second stage of the clinical trials. The two institutes are affiliated with the government pharmaceutical group Cinopharm, which is administered by the Asset Control and Management Committee.

According to the commission, the production capacity of the Beijing Institute of Biological Products will be between 100 and 120 million doses annually.

China has five vaccines to prevent the emerging coronavirus in human trials. It was not possible to reach any of the institutes or the company for comment today, Saturday.
