Île-de-France has been placed in the orange zone on the epididological map of Covid-19 because of Val-d'Oise, the only department of the metropolis in red. A classification which causes the incomprehension of the president of the department, Marie-Christine Cavecchi, who was said Saturday on Europe 1 worried for the economy of the Val d'Oise.

INTERVIEW

On the coronavirus epidemiological map, the Île-de-France region is classified orange. If it has not gone green, it is because of a single department: Val-d'Oise has indicators and positivity rates to Covid-19 higher than those of neighboring departments. It is the only one in red in mainland France. A situation that worries the president of the department, Marie-Christine Cavecchi, interviewed by Europe 1 on Saturday. The classification in red is nonsense to him.

"We are pointed. We are the ugly duckling. It is unthinkable," points Marie-Christine Cavecchi, who relies on figures. "On Wednesday evening, there were 224 tests: three people were positive. All over Île-de-France, 6,000 people are in intensive care and there are 28 or 29 in Val-d'Oise. So we ask ourselves questions. "

Marie-Christine Cavecchi fears that the department is at a disadvantage compared to the others. "I am very worried about the rest. We have a department that is two-thirds rural, so Parisians come for weekends, in guesthouses, in sites. And there, you think they want to come see people who may be contagious? "she asked.

Tourism, a worrying sector

The economic situation is the most critical aspect of this classification in red, said the president of the department. "The entire tourism sector, which wants to take over as in all of France, today, we wonder what it will be used for. This is very distressing for our economy", regrets Marie-Christine Cavecchi.
