Despite an error made in the study on hydroxychloroquine published by the prestigious scientific journal "The Lancet", Doctor Jimmy Mohamed believes that its results should not be completely called into question.

She could have signed the end of hydroxychloroquine as a possible treatment for the coronavirus, but it is now widely criticized. The study published on May 22 in the scientific journal The Lancet , which leads to the ineffectiveness of this molecule in the treatment of this pathology, had however had many consequences: the repeal of the decree authorizing its use in France against Covid-19, or the temporary cessation of clinical trials by WHO.

The use of the forbidden tooth and nail molecule by Professor Didier Raoult therefore seemed definitively buried. Until researchers express their doubts about the study, wondering about the source of the data used.

Data error

"We realized that there was at least one error, so from that moment on we can say that there are others" explains on the microphone of the Big evening newspaper  Friday the doctor Jimmy Mohamed. The error in question? The Lancet study lists 73 Australian coronavirus deaths, while John Hopkins University in Australia had 67. "The problem is that from this, we could question the whole study" according to Jimmy Mohamed.

A charge against Didier Raoult

However, the doctor insists that "we can not throw it in the trash" and warns against criticism, including that of Professor Didier Raoult. The latter had called the study "messy", while its methodology is itself widely criticized in the scientific world. "Couldn't we say to myself that if I published in 'Mickey Magazine' and that behind I tried to criticize the Times , it might be time to sweep outside my door?", Tackles Jimmy Mohamed in comparison. .

For its part, The Lancet indicated that it had transmitted the numerous questions on the study to its authors so that "they work to respond to the problems raised" by the critics.
