Garou and Laury Thilleman will be at the helm of this evening like no other - GHOSAROSSIAN Delphine

  • France 2 will organize its Music Festival well, as every year, despite the sanitary conditions.
  • The evening will take place at the Accor Arena on June 19, but the hall will not welcome anyone in its stands.
  • The public will still be present in the program thanks to a system of projection screens.

The hall of the Accor Arena will not sound hollow on June 19. However, a concert without audience will take place there. Because of the coronavirus crisis, France 2 adapted and decided to offer, as every year, the Fête de la Musique on its antenna. Forget Nice and its beautiful Promenade des Anglais, the show will take place in Paris, in the old Bercy, with empty stands.

However, the sound of the public will still resonate in this room which can usually accommodate up to 20,000 people. The solution ? 600 square meters of projection screens. “We hung tulles all around the stage, we collected images of the public in different rooms, different festivals, in Toulouse, in Nice. This image bank will keep the public alive, ”explains Tristan Carné, who will direct the program. The decor will consist of two large scenes, placed back to back, and will form a heart.

Forty artists answered the call

For more than three hours, forty artists will follow one another on the stage. The program is not yet fixed since personalities continue to confirm their presence over the days. For the time being, Patrick Bruel, Catherine Ringer, Vianney, Gims, Claudio Capéo, Benjamin Biolay, Christine and the Queens, Vitaa, Slimane, Kendji Girac, Pascal Obispo, Camélia Jordana, Thomas Dutronc, Amir, Tom Leeb, Romeo Elvis, Salvatore Adamo and Loïc Nottet are among those who will share the poster. Duets, colleges and mini-concerts are on the program.

As in the past two years, the evening will be hosted by Garou and Laury Thilleman. "They have this energy, the good vibes , they are solar and this is what we are going to need", comments Alexandra Redde-Amiel, director of entertainment at France Televisions. Both will be responsible for highlighting the militant aspect of this evening by making the French want to return to the rooms as soon as they are reopened. This Fête de la Musique "becomes the symbol of support for music, festivals and concerts which will not be able to be held this summer because of health problems", said Takis Candilis, France Televisions number 2.

Rigorous security measures

It goes without saying that the Fête de la musique de France 2 will respect all the health measures recommended by the government, like all the television filming that has been able to resume since May 11. Philippe Vilamitjana, the producer of the show, says that the surroundings of the Accor Arena are of great help. “It is very large, very large and the traffic will be organized in a rigorous manner, both for assembly, disassembly, rehearsals. We will have one microphone per artist, rapid rotations in the boxes, physical distances including on stage between the artists and between the musicians, ”he explained.

This Thursday, May 28, Prime Minister Edouard Philippe announced the reopening of theaters from June 2. Will this measure allow France 2 to welcome real people to attend the concert? "Every day, we adapt, we evolve," revealed Alexandra Redde-Amiel. Answer on June 19.
