Actor Bill Murray in "The French Dispatch" by Wes Anderson - Landmark / Starface

Wes Anderson, Thomas Vinterberg, and Naomi Kawase are among the first directors whose films have been selected to receive the “Cannes 2020 Label”, according to Variety. In total, the label will consist of 50 films, which will be released on June 3. Among the other directors to have accepted the label, we find François Ozon, with Summer 85 and Apichatpong Weerasethakul for Memoria .

Obviously, this Cannes Label will never compensate for the loss of exposure of a media and glamorous fortnight such as the festival, and certain highly anticipated films, like Annette by Leos Carax, or Benedetta by Paul Vehoeven, will see their releases postponed in order to be able to officially compete in the 2021 edition.
