During a press conference taking stock of the follow-up to the deconfinement, the Prime Minister announced that he wanted to speed up the reopening of schools. Schools and colleges are slated to reopen in June. The high schools will reopen in the departments classified green.

The Prime Minister and the Minister of Health spoke on Thursday at a press conference to take stock of the deconfinement. Saying he was rather satisfied with the evolution of the situation, Edouard Philippe announced that he wanted to speed up the reopening of schools, colleges and high schools in departments classified as green. "We have decided to speed up the reopening of schools and colleges in all areas," added the head of government.

The establishments should reopen in all departments classified as green, that is to say throughout the territory with the exception of Île-de-France, Mayotte and Guyana. The Minister of Education, for his part, invoked a "social emergency" and an "educational imperative" while assuring that the priority was "to guarantee the safety of staff and students".
