"As part of the deconfinement, given the current health situation of the two islands and their proximity, the prefects of Guadeloupe and Martinique will raise their fortnight as of Monday, May 25, 2020 between the sister islands including between Saint -Martin, Saint-Barthélemy ", indicates the press release.

Low circulation of Covid-19 on both islands

The number of cases of coronavirus and care in intensive care units has continued to decrease in the islands concerned. The last bulletin of Public Health France published on May 15 underlined "the weak circulation of Covid-19, observed for several weeks in our territories".

In seven days, only one additional case was identified in Guadeloupe as well as in Saint-Martin, five in Martinique and none in Saint-Barthélemy.

According to the prefecture's press release, "the connection between the islands will be provided by the airlines within the limit of the days and opening hours of the airports". In the process, Air Antilles announced "the resumption of its regular flights between Martinique, Guadeloupe and the northern islands from Monday, May 25, 2020" in a "progressive" manner.

Guyana still affected by the fortnight

The lifting of the fortnight does not concern passengers from Guyana who will have to respect it when they arrive in one of the two islands. Regarding flights between Guyana and Guadeloupe, which stop in Martinique, "passengers can only disembark from the aircraft" and "no boarding in Martinique will be authorized".

If passengers transit through Martinique or Guadeloupe from France, they "will do their fortnight upon landing at their final destination," say the prefectures of the two islands. Finally, they point out that "only travel is authorized for an imperative reason of a personal or family order, a health reason relating to emergency or a professional reason which cannot be deferred".

Friday, during the last epidemiological point, Guadeloupe had 156 cumulative cases and 13 deaths. Martinique had 197 confirmed cases and 14 deaths. There were, Friday in Saint-Martin, 40 cumulative cases and 3 deaths [plus a resident of Sint-Marteen who died in French part]. Saint-Barthélemy recorded 6 cumulative cases and no deaths.
