Johnny Hallyday in concert in Namur, Belgium, in 2013 - CLOSON DENIS / ISOPIX / SIPA

Is there a single song recorded by Johnny Hallyday that will not be released one day, even several years after his death? After the last album of the idol of the young people, My Country is love , sold with nearly two million copies, then the posthumous symphonic disc released in 2019, Universal Music is working on a new set of songs by the artist. On May 29, two and a half years after the singer's death, will release an album dedicated to the year 1969, where we will find new lives and rarities.

Among these titles is the song La nuit avec moi, released this Friday by RTL . Recorded in December 1968 at the Olympic Sound Studio in London, it was found by Universal Music by re-listening to recording tapes from the album Rivière… open your bed , the twelfth by Johnny Hallyday. "There is a part of mystery which makes that one discovers this song only today, explained Xavier Perrot, artistic director of the Hallyday catalog at Universal at the microphone of RTL. At the time we had vinyl records that were only twenty minutes per side. So, at some point, there is a choice to be made… ”.

A "very rock" song

The recording of La nuit avec moi  lasts 3 minutes and 32 seconds and was left "as raw as possible," promises Xavier Perrot. We mixed it of course respecting the colors of the album: bass, drums, guitar. Something very rock. A meticulous investigation was launched to discover this piece, in order to find his lyricist and his composer. Finally, it is Steve Marriott and Ronnie Lane, two Englishmen from the Small Faces group, to whom we owe this new title which will appear on the Johnny 69 box set .
