The Family Protection Department in Jordan announced the day before yesterday that a 12-year-old boy was severely burned on different parts of his body as a result of using chemicals that were left untreated, while investigations revealed that the child's father was the one who burned and tortured him.
It was later revealed, as the Jordanian "Al-Ghad" newspaper said, that the child had a previous file in the Family Protection Department, as the first case report was received on the 14th of last month, stating that the child was subjected to physical harm and severe beating, and then the father signed a pledge not to repeat the abuse, while continuing to follow up Case. Until a new communication was received, the day before yesterday, that the child was tortured and burned with chemicals.
It is reported that the victim child has two siblings, one of whom is 7 years old, the second one and three months, who were withdrawn from the family and placed in one of the care homes, given that the family environment in which the children live is insecure.
While the child is now staying in the hospital to receive treatment, the father was arrested in prison on charges of severe harm, while the father justified his torture of his son as a disciplinary measure and "an attempt to extract confessions from the child."
According to the medical report of the child, it was found that he suffers from second and third degree burns in separate areas of his body that have passed for a period of time in addition to the presence of multiple bruises in the area of ​​the face, shoulder and head.
The Department of Family Protection revealed that the percentage of domestic violence increased during the ban period by 33% compared to the same period last year. The Zarqa child case is the second case of severe violence against children after the case of the 14-year-old girl who was stabbed by her brother last week after discovering that she created an account on the social networking site "Facebook".
