Every time he feels cornered, the man who currently holds the presidency of the Government redoubles the challenge and flees forward, leaving behind a trail of broken promises and frustrated allies. This caesarist and risky way of understanding politics , deaf to the agreement and incompatible with the confidence that any minority ruler must know how to inspire, would already be reprehensible in a town councilor, since his arbitrariness would be paid by all the neighbors; in a president, the price is paid by 47 million Spaniards. To their anguish over health uncertainty and economic devastation must add citizens insane ineptitude and aggressive radicalism From the coalition led by Pedro Sánchez and Pablo Iglesias: this Executive is a fundamental part of the problem and not of the solution.

Some perhaps well-intentioned naive people still insist that the perverse influence is limited to Churches and that, if properly isolated, the PSOE could apply its social democratic program in this legislature that in fact the pandemic has already blown up. But the facts are stubborn and show that Sánchez has no other political project than his personal survival , while Iglesias makes significant progress every day in his confessed strategy of dismantling the '78 democracy, which he deems amortized. Podemos' plan , its symbiotic alliances with the most destructive separatism -from ERC to Bildu-, is the one that is imposing itself in the wake of the coronavirus crisis by blackmailing its votes on a surrendered Sánchez. He surrenders because he did not have and does not have the courage to explore a moderate alternative; because he prefers to recompose the majority Frankenstein at any price to try to exhaust the mandate with those who gave it to him.

It was Sánchez who chose to embrace the one who was taking away his sleep and it is Sánchez, and not Lastra, who allows him to impose his anti-system agenda at the expense of any constitutionalist partner - when he believes it necessary to wash his hand in Bildu at Ciudadanos - at the cost of dialogue social with the employers and even with the unions -when he agrees the complete repeal of the labor reform at night-, at the cost of negotiating the bailout with Europe -when Nadia Calviño is ignored-, at the cost of the memory of the victims of ETA -when he launches Otegi as a valid interlocutor and even as a partner of a hypothetical coalition in the Basque Country- and at the expense of the territorial integrity of the State when he pleads with Rufián to resume his talks at the point where the separatist extra-parliamentary table left him. All this is already part of the political baggage of the new PSOE due to the work and grace of Pedro Sánchez. There is nothing progressive in that legacy: only the narcissistic brutalism of an unscrupulous adventurer who has betrayed the latest principles of an unrecognizable party , with the complicit silence of some ministers and the helpless moan of some barons. From this moment, Sánchez closes other doors and condemns himself to rush the populist and separatist path to the stool, in open contempt of the general interest of the Spanish.

But in addition to its illiberal content, the forms of sanchismo are equally embarrassing. The latest debate on the extension of the state of alarm served the display of weakness as well as the apology for treason. Unable to honor the agreements he signs because he considers them to be tied to his will to power, the president has prostituted the value of his word for all to see , hiding the rinsing with Bildu so as not to spoil the support of Cs and snubbing the PNV with the heirs. of ETA in a pre-electoral context, while Calviño and Iglesias air their duel of authority in line with the rectification or not of the infamous pact. The show is unspeakable. Spain's credit to the world is sinking. Legal certainty is fading. The invoice of the crisis shoots up. And the recovery, under such a government, is postponed sine die .
