A very mixed record. Secretary of State for Gender Equality, Marlène Schiappa, said on Thursday on France Inter that the platform dedicated to domestic violence had received five times more reports than normal during the eight weeks of confinement. She added that "36% more complaints" had been recorded.

"But there would have been, I put a lot of quotes and a lot of caution, fewer feminicides than usual," she continued, referring to a feminicide "every 4.2 or 4.4 days" instead one every three days or two and a half days.

Nearly 500 people in contact points

The Secretary of State also reported "200 calls" from men to the line dedicated to supporting violent men or about to become violent.

With regard to reports in the "contact points" set up to help women victims of violence, "nearly 500 people" have "passed through hypermarkets". "We can consider that it is not much, but if on 500 occasions, there was a woman who found an accompaniment, an accommodation, it is positive", she estimated. "In pharmacies, there have been reports that have resulted in police custody and the protection of women," she said. Marlène Schiappa had recently announced that these devices would be maintained after confinement.

A module in the examination of VTC drivers?

The Secretary of State also indicated working on "the generalization of the bus stop on demand in the evening and at night", as part of a plan to combat street harassment. She also specified that she would bring together, with the Secretary of State for Transport, the VTC platforms to work "on the integration of a module to combat sexual and gender-based violence in the examination to become a driver".

Uber is targeted in France by a series of complaints from customers accusing drivers of attacks, some accusing the platform of an inappropriate or ineffective reaction. "Uber will offer 1,000 trips in partnership with 3919 to drive women to the police station or to their new accommodation," she also said.

She also mentioned the development of a network of “safe places”, with the code “ask Angela” allowing to ask for help, already implemented in several cities of France.

. @ MarleneSchiappa: "We are going to develop a network of 'safe spaces', with the 'ask Angela' device. The idea is that when you are in danger, you take refuge in a partner place by asking to see Angela. " # le79inter
