This is China's first law named after the code. The Civil Code is a law stipulating the individual rights of citizens, but the Environmental Protection Law is, to a large extent, a restriction on the civil conduct of citizens. Lu Zhongmei pointed out that the "green" civil code is mainly reflected in several aspects. First, Article 9 of the General Rules of Civil Law stipulates a green principle that all civil conduct activities must be conducive to environmental protection and prevent pollution and damage to the environment . Second, a series of green systems have been stipulated in the property rights series. Third, it is stipulated in the contract compilation that the obligations of environmental protection shall be observed in the performance of the contract. In addition, in the compilation of tort liability, there is a special chapter with seven provisions to regulate the tort liability for the destruction of ecological environment pollution, and provides for punitive compensation. This is a very severe sanction that increases compensation and increases the cost of violations.
