Food aid distribution to Restos du Coeur, in Bobigny, Seine-Saint-Denis, May 13, 2020 - Guillaume Novello / 20 Minutes

With the Covid-19 pandemic and containment, the food crisis has worsened in certain areas of our country. The loss of income, often precarious work, supply channels have put families, singles, students or retirees face hunger.

To provide assistance as close as possible to those who need it, Emmaüs Habitat, social landlord of the Cité de l'Etoile in Bobigny (Seine-Saint-Denis) has established a partnership with Restos du Coeur.

Every week, parcels are distributed in this district under the supervision of local associative activists, here the Phoenix school support association.

Guillaume Novello, journalist at 20 Minutes, visited this district during a distribution on May 13.

Tipping into precariousness

In our podcast, follow his report with Mohamed Bouriache, community activist, Delphine Depaix, director of urban social policies for Emmaüs Habitat, Ali, beneficiary of this food aid, or Souhila Hamzaoui, social worker for Restos du Coeur.

They bear witness to this crisis, to the mobilization of associations to organize this "social war action" in the face of hunger, according to Delphine Depaix.
