Amrita Sher-Gil is to India what Frida Kahlo is to Mexico. Its history is unknown but absolutely fascinating. His artistic, pictorial and musical talents are marked by his cultural and intellectual cosmopolitanism, by a harmonious and then disunited family life. His work has been influenced by his incessant journeys between India and Europe in a twentieth century shaken by wars, and draws its intensity from uncompromising freedom. Her story is a novel. Amrita , Patricia Reznikov's new novel has been published by Flammarion.
