The first domestically vaccinated
10-year-old Wuhan girl with domestic bivalent HPV vaccine became the first inoculation in China

The Beijing Youth Daily reporter learned from the Hubei Maternal and Child Health Hospital that on the 18th, the country's first domestically made bivalent HPV vaccine (cervical cancer vaccine) was vaccinated in the Hubei Maternal and Child Health Hospital. The 10-year-old Wuhan girl Cocoa (pseudonym) became the first vaccinator in the country, and her mother, Ms. Peng, who was vaccinated with her, was an obstetrician. This means that the domestically produced HPV vaccine that has caused widespread concern has finally "landed" and the HPV vaccine has entered the "domestic era". It is understood that compared with vaccines that are currently on the market domestically, domestic vaccines have international quality and are more cost-effective. The suitable population is 9-45 years old, and only 9 shots are needed for the 9-14 year old.

On the afternoon of the 18th, 44-year-old Ms. Peng took her 10-year-old daughter Cocoa to the Adult Vaccine Clinic of the Women ’s Health Department of the Hubei Maternal and Child Health Hospital. She requested to be vaccinated with domestically produced HPV vaccine. Subsequently, Ms. Peng also received the vaccination, becoming the second woman in the country to be vaccinated. Check the personal information, pay the fee, and receive the vaccination. The whole process is completed within a few minutes.

Ms. Peng is an obstetrician with extensive clinical experience and medical knowledge. "I am very fortunate that my daughter and I have become the first two vaccinators of domestic cervical cancer vaccines." Before the cervical cancer vaccine, she carefully studied the difference between the two-valent, four-valent, and nine-valent vaccines, as well as relevant information on imported and domestic vaccines. She concluded that the domestic bivalent vaccine has the same protection efficiency as the imported vaccine against high-risk HPV virus, but the price is at least half cheaper, and there is no need to line up for vaccinations, which saves a lot of things.

Before the domestic cervical cancer vaccine was approved, there were imported two-valent, four-valent and nine-valent HPV vaccines for women aged 9-45, 20-45 and 16-26. As early as November 2017, the Provincial Maternal and Child Health Hospital has successively opened scheduled vaccination of imported two-, four-, and nine-valent HPV vaccines. In the past three years, the popularity of HPV vaccine appointments has not diminished, and it is quite popular. The nine-valent vaccine is the most "hot".

At present, more than 104 countries and regions in the world have incorporated HPV vaccine into the national immunization plan, and the main population is 9-14 years old.

For many years, Chinese people's attention to the research and development of domestic vaccines has also included the expectation of reducing costs. The price of the domestically made bivalent HPV vaccine is 329 yuan / unit, which is lower than similar products, and the 9-14 year old vaccinators only need to receive two shots. At present, the domestic bivalent HPV vaccine of Hubei Maternal and Child Health Hospital has arrived. However, experts remind that cervical cancer vaccination is not "once and for all." Cervical cancer vaccine cannot produce 100% protection, cannot replace conventional cervical cancer screening, nor can it replace other measures to prevent HPV infection and sexually transmitted diseases. Therefore, conventional cervical cancer screening cannot be ignored.
