The pension fund of liberal doctors, Carmf, will release a flat-rate aid of 2,000 euros net to compensate for the losses linked to the drop in activity during the health crisis. "This sum will decrease the 2020 contribution balance, without reducing pension rights," said Carmf in a statement on Sunday.

Arrested at its board of directors on Friday, this aid is in addition to the “postponement to 2021 of three months of levy of contributions” (April-June) and to “the suspension of the calculation of late payment increases and execution procedures underway, "she said. The Caisse also decided not to claim contributions from retired volunteer doctors to make replacements during the Covid-19 epidemic.

Aid deemed "fair"

In total, the financial effort will be 8,000 euros per doctor, or almost a billion euros in all, according to Carmf. Previously, several unions of liberal doctors had mobilized to obtain this direct aid from their pension fund which has several billion euros of financial reserves.

The MG-France general practitioners' union welcomed the participation of Carmf. He found it "fair" because it was a lump sum. He was pleased that "it does not mortgage the future" insofar as, according to him, the Carmf drew from the Social Action Fund and the death disability plan without touching the reserves. This aid will not, however, be "insufficient for the doctors most in difficulty", he regretted. According to MG-France, general medical practices have lost up to 50% of their activity since mid-March.
