A basic rule of hygiene that it always seems essential to hammer weeks after the appearance of the coronavirus. This Monday, the metropolis of Lyon wanted to remind the public of the rules to follow to get rid of used masks, gloves and handkerchiefs. Information intended to put an end to the proliferation of these materials observed in the street or in the bins reserved for sorting waste, to the chagrin of the garbage collectors in Lyon, on the front line since the start of the health crisis.

On social networks, several of them deplored this lack of civility, even more obvious since the deconfinement, which directly threatens them and harms the environment.

In the gray bins

“We applauded them all for almost two months. Now that we are unconfined, to protect our agents in charge of collecting and treating waste, respect these simple rules: throw your masks, gloves and handkerchiefs in a separate bag, kept 24 hours apart in the gray bin ”, recalls the president of the metropolis David Kimelfeld.
