According to the DGCCRF, these vials are the subject of a recall because they have an "insufficient ethanol content to ensure a true antiviral and antibacterial action". It is therefore strongly recommended to "no longer use it and return it to the place of purchase". These products are still on sale on certain websites, so consumers must remain vigilant during this time of epidemic.

27% ethanol instead of the 60% recommended

The alert was given by the France Télévisions group, which had purchased hydroalcoholic gels of this brand in number for its approximately 10,000 employees. Unions had warned management that their effectiveness may not be optimal because these products have already been singled out by a municipality in the Var.

After sending samples to the laboratory, the verdict fell: Symex hydroalcoholic gels only contained 27% ethanol instead of the 60% recommended by the National Medicines Safety Agency to combat the spread of coronavirus. The pharmacist who sold these products to France Télévisions also said he was the victim of a scam. The media group plans to file a complaint.
