The rain is invited for this first weekend of deconfinement - F. Binacchi / ANP / 20 Minutes

  • The beaches in twelve of the sixteen municipalities of the Alpes-Maritimes coast reopened this weekend for “dynamic” use.
  • In Cannes, the rules were well respected as the rain fell on the Côte d'Azur.

For "the sand battles" with his little sister, Clément will have to come back. This 11-year-old boy from Cannes who "wanted to see the sea again" had to be content to observe him from the saddle of his bike on the asphalt on the Boulevard du Midi.

In Cannes, as in the other cities of the Côte d'Azur where the beaches have been able to reopen for certain activities, the weather played spoilsports on Saturday and Sunday. Intermittent showers scattered this weekend of reunion (under conditions) between the Riviera and the Mediterranean, after two months of confinement. Yes, you read correctly ! While the Parisians were entitled to a beautiful sun, the rain fell shamelessly on the Alpes-Maritimes.

"Don't stay static"

"The little one insisted that we come. There, we just stopped to redo our laces, justify Alessandro and Clarisse, sitting on the wet sand with their two children. We know that we cannot remain static. Anyway, with this time, we don't really want to. "

It is done ! At @VilledeNice, signage is being installed for the “dynamic” and therefore sporty reopening of #plages from tomorrow. They will be accessible from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Tanning, picnics and fishing are prohibited #Containment # Covid_19 pic.twitter.com/Wgge1EWVjF

By prefectoral decree, and at the express request of the mayors, twelve coastal municipalities (out of sixteen), including Cannes therefore and Nice in particular, were able to reopen their seafront for "dynamic use". Clearly, walks and sports activities - which some had already resumed for a few days - are again permitted, between 6 a.m. and 8 p.m., but picnics and sunbathing sessions (in all cases complicated under rain) are currently prohibited.

"No overflow"

On the Bocca side, 20 Minutes was able to observe the brave in their canoe or even some reckless water skiers, but no fisherman. In the city of festivals, unlike Nice, individual fishing is however also permitted.

"There was no overflow this weekend, even if the weather is for many, noted Sunday evening the mayor of Cannes David Lisnard. I believe that the instructions are passed anyway. Everything is to avoid for the moment, as in other public spaces, groupings. And we will control it. "

In Cannes, municipal police patrols are planned and the city has decided to reactivate its beach brigade now.

Deconfinement

Covid-19

"If constraints were to remain in 2021, we would adapt," says Pierre Lescure, president of the Cannes Festival.
