A book / 'The best and the brightest', by David Halberstam

A politician, a manager, spends the day reading. Read papers and papers, mixed texts, situation analysis, reports and decrees. And he reads the press, every day voraciously. For this reason, I enjoy reading moments outside the management of the pandemic as if they were time delicatessen.of everyday. One of the things I have to do on a daily basis is to have videoconference meetings with different mayors from all over the world. It is an occasion to test my English. Politics, history, English, high literature ... All these days I find it in the pages of The best and the brightest, by the journalist David Halberstam (published in the US by the Random House label; not translated into Spanish). A chronicle of the excellent administration of John Fitzgerald Kennedy, so full of talents in his team, and of how he was involved in the Vietnam War. The book I read in English, by the way, to also do my eternal homework with this language.

An album / 'Brothers in arms', by Dire Straits

I have to confess that my musical tastes are what someone would say eclectic. From Dire Straits to Julio Iglesias, through the most classic Spanish pop, perhaps represented by Los Secretos, these weeks of pandemic many songs have come to mind, some have even sounded exciting and surprising in the tributes to the toilets that the musicians Municipal Police have been doing. At the Town Hall, thanks to Ramoncín and his manager, we gathered a lot of singers who generously interpreted that Let's say I speak of Madrid , that the great Joaquín Sabina let us use and that I hummed for several days. But in the long hours of solitude, I have an intimate, inspiring and sobering hymn, which is charging me with strength and encouragement. That fabulous Brothers in arms that came out of Mark Knopfler's talent.

A series / 'The crown'

Despite the long hours of home confinement, there isn't much time these days to watch movies. There is no time for references of mine like La Vaquilla or Marcelino Bread and wine. That is why the pills that make up the exceptional series that can be enjoyed now are my best escape valve. Well-known is my old devotion to The West Wing of the White House , by Aaron Sorkin, which I am revisiting these days, in its successive seasons. I add a more current classic: The Crown , created by Peter Morgan, with its three masterful seasons in its development and with its magnificent settings.
