As in other cities in France, they hoped to beat the pavement again on Saturday. In Angers, the "yellow vests" were banned by the prefect from demonstrating in the streets. A decree was in fact signed to avoid any gathering between 8 a.m. and 11 p.m., recalling that "the state of health emergency to deal with the Covid-19 epidemic has been extended until July 10, 2020". The prefecture points out that "the decree of May 11 prohibits any gathering on the public highway bringing together more than ten people".

Large influx of people

Not far from there, the parades of Nantes but also of Saint-Nazaire were also banned by the prefect of Loire-Atlantique. "If participants gather despite the prefecture's ban, they will be subject to a ticket," he warns.

For its part, the prefecture of Maine-et-Loire believes that "these demonstrations risk generating a large influx of people" and fears "disturbances of public order". "In the absence of prior declaration, the respect for barrier gestures and social distancing necessary to fight against the spread of the virus cannot be organized," she said.

Elsewhere in France, these demonstrations have been officially banned in Toulouse, Montpellier, or Lyon.
