Some 8,500 runners participated in the 2019 edition of the Medoc chateau marathon - FIEVEZ / SIPA

It presents itself as "the most festive event in the world". The famous marathon of the Médoc castles, one of the most famous races in France, certainly the most original, will not take place this year. Due to the coronavirus epidemic, the 2020 edition, which was to be held on Saturday September 12, has been canceled, their organizers have just announced.

"This decision was made with sadness and sorrow among the entire team of volunteers, but it is also the most reasonable for the health of all" they said in a statement, stressing that it would be very difficult to enforce rules of physical distance.

September 11, 2021

"This decision also allows the 8,500 runners to make their arrangements, well in advance of the scheduled date of the event". It will be possible to postpone your registration, free of charge, on one of the next three editions.

This 36th edition of the Medoc Châteaux marathon will take place: September 11, 2021, departing from Pauillac. The race will keep the theme planned for this year, namely "Le Médoc makes its cinema", but "season 2".
