Recently, the Chinese scientific research team confirmed through ancient DNA research that the ancient southern populations in Fujian and surrounding areas are the ancestors of the Austronesian population.

Fu Qiaomei, the director of the Ancient DNA Laboratory of the Institute of Paleontology and Paleontology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (Institute of Paleontology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences), has teamed up with the latest research completed by multiple units. The ancient southern related populations are the ancestors of the Austronesian population (mainly living on Taiwan Island and Pacific Island in China today). For the first time, the time was clearly traced back to 8400 years ago, and it was confirmed that there are genetic links between the entire East Asian coastal ethnic groups. .

Fu Qiaomei said that the latest research results were the first to obtain the nuclear genome of the population of southern China through improved and innovative ancient DNA technology, making large-scale research on the genetic information of the East Asian population possible, and the related technologies also have very important application prospects.
