Classified "red", Mayotte has 1,143 declared cases of coronavirus, 43 hospitalizations including 9 in intensive care and 14 deaths. And the deconfinement was pushed back there. In a second opinion given this Wednesday to the Minister of Overseas, the scientific council which advises the government in the fight against the epidemic thus recommends "the maintenance of confinement until the end of the local epidemic peak" and "the strict limitation the number of arrivals ”.

The scientific council thus estimates that the new arrivals on the archipelago must conform "to the principle of the general confinement". The priority is "to strengthen local diagnostic capacity by PCR" (which makes it possible to detect if one is a carrier of the virus on the day of the test) for symptomatic people, "isolation and medical care for infected people "

Recommendations in other overseas territories

For Guyana, Martinique, Guadeloupe, Saint-Martin, La Réunion and French Polynesia, scientists also consider it possible “to envisage the disappearance of the cases of Covid-19 in the weeks or months to come”. But they recommend "to increase the frequency of passenger transport only from June, by favoring family reunification and professional travel".

For Wallis and Futuna, New Caledonia, Saint-Pierre and Miquelon and Saint-Barthélemy, territories "currently free from epidemics", the council recommends "to continue, for the coming weeks, the application of strict regulatory measures the flow of travelers, depending on the local capacity for organizing supervised quarantine and systematic screening ”.

Three fortnight options for arrivals

In terms of the fortnight, scientists offer "three options" for travelers arriving in overseas territories. The first recommends a "fortnight in a dedicated structure accompanied by a systematic PCR test at the end of the fortnight". This strategy, currently practiced in several overseas territories, is "the one that ensures the best prevention". But the Constitutional Council censured it on Monday because it did not offer guarantees of recourse to a judicial judge.

The second option offers a fortnight at home with a lift "when the PCR test performed at the end of the period is negative". Finally, the third option recommends "a period of strict confinement at home of seven days before the trip, followed by a period of strict confinement at home of seven days on arrival overseas", with a PCR test before the trip and another at the end of the fortnight.
