Travelers disembarked in the middle of a ghost station. A dozen travelers experienced a funny mishap Tuesday evening in the Marseille metro. They were landed at Jules-Guesde station, which has been closed for a year because of the risk of buildings collapsing on the surface

As La Provence relates , passengers boarded a metro train at around 10:15 p.m. while the loudspeakers announced a closure of the service at 10 p.m. Once inside, some were surprised by the non-stop metro at Périer and Castellane stations, then at Saint Charles station.

The suspended driver

This is when some people decided to knock on the driver's door. The metro finally stops at Jules-Guesdes station and the driver, according to the testimony of passengers, asks everyone to get off, before leaving as quickly. The dozen passengers find themselves stranded in this station only lit by the emergency exits. All the exits are closed, except for a staircase of a hundred steps which leads directly to the building site rue de la Butte. It is there that a worker finally opens the security gates to them to leave them free.

According to the RTM, the passengers boarded an out-of-service train which was brought back to the garage. Investigations are underway. The driver could be identified. He was suspended.
