From 500 to 1,500 euros, the premium for carers and non-medical staff of hospitals should be paid "in the coming weeks", announced the government. At the same time as "May or June pay," said government spokeswoman Sibeth Ndiaye on Wednesday.

"The decree is about to be signed," she said during the report by the Council of Ministers. This bonus, promised by Emmanuel Macron at the end of March and specified by the government in mid-April, will be at least 500 euros for all members of the hospital staff and 1,500 euros for those working in establishments or services welcoming patients from Covid- 19.

Ehpad and civil servants too

Exempt from taxes and social security contributions, these gratuities will cost the state a total of 1.3 billion euros, said Minister of Health Olivier Véran. A similar reward is planned for the entire medico-social sector and in particular nursing homes.

These bonuses are part of the "recognition measures", which should also benefit some 400,000 civil servants particularly mobilized during the Covid-19 crisis, who will receive up to 1,000 euros net.
