Do you remember the nineties? They fell to me at the most tender time: a teenager already understands what is happening in the world, but still perceives it with childlike spontaneity. I remember the chaos. I remember the programs from the meetings of the State Duma. Chaos was there. It seemed to spread from the hall where the deputies argued overwhelmed by the “freedom” of the country, spread like black liquid all over the country, dizzy - and it was scary to walk along the dark streets. Of course, the artistic image painted by me is just an artistic image.

Let us recall how in the early nineties organized criminal gangs smashed markets and restaurants with pleasure, and already in the middle their leaders realized that real, big money was being made in politics. And went into politics. Someone in a small town, one higher, in the State Duma. Thanks to Boris Nikolayevich for our happy childhood.

And I personally really like the new bill passed yesterday in the second reading. Persons sentenced to imprisonment for certain crimes of medium gravity are deprived of the opportunity to participate in elections. Among such articles are individual crimes against life and health, against freedom, honor and dignity of a person, against constitutional rights and freedoms of a person and citizen, against family and minors, in the field of economics, against public safety and public order, crimes against state power, against peace and security of mankind. That is, if a person has an unexpunged or outstanding conviction, he loses the opportunity to participate in the elections. And no, it is impossible to achieve withdrawal immediately before the election. Only after five years from the date of repayment or withdrawal of a criminal record.

The State Duma is often criticized. Basically, according to the principle "a separate deputy registers a strange bill in the Duma." Parliament has not yet considered it at all, and the probability is 99% that a strange bill will be rejected, but the noise of the liberal public begins.

But the fact is that the current Duma began to work not as a collection of more or less charismatic single people, but as a mechanism - this principle was clearly outlined by the Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin. Debugged, clear mechanism. For better or worse, let us judge the reader. Perhaps, someone will be nostalgic for the nineties, for the great chaos, when the programs from the parliamentary meetings, in their fascination, could argue with the famous “Full House”. And, perhaps, yes, there were more charismatic singles. Which, in fact, added chaos.

(However, in this regard, the Verkhovna Rada show was clearly more spectacular than the famous fights of deputies alone. In this regard, Ukraine was not only ahead of Russia, but definitely ahead of the rest. We are, however, now not about Ukraine, although reviewing the black and white recordings of these meetings is invariably fun).

In addition to charismatic singles, however, there were plenty of outright criminals who replaced Adidas and bits for business suits.

Such was this strange, wild time, which many now perceive as a time of freedom, as opposed to present times, supposedly times of bondage. But do not confuse freedom with permissiveness, but bondage with order.

There are no ideal states, but we can compare the path Russia has traveled in fifteen, say, years, and cross itself.

I do not want to be afraid to walk in the dark streets. I do not want criminals to sit in the leadership of my country. Heck, I just don't want to! I do not want Makhnovism in parliament; I am satisfied with today's State Duma, which works as a stable mechanism.

I don’t want the citizens who have been in prison for “crimes against life and health” to somehow influence what is happening in the country. You can call me a hypocrite and prove that they have long been corrected, but I would prefer that these citizens prove their correction in some other way. In the end, in addition to lawmaking, there are many ways to serve the good of your country.

Here let them prove it in other ways.
