  • Monday, May 11, for the first day of deconfinement, brands of the ready-to-wear brand Zara welcomed their first customers.
  • Queues were formed (and filmed) outside some of these stores.
  • A video montage compiling these images supposed to have been filmed in France mixes scenes which were filmed in France and others in Lebanon.

A beginning of deconfinement under the sign of ready-to-wear? On Facebook, a video intends to denounce the behavior of the first customers of the Zara brands before their reopening, by compiling the images of the different queues observed in France.

"First day of deconfinement in France, Zara sells brains? Mind-blowing scenes at Zara's first day of deconfinement ”, can we read the legend of this sequence shared more than 4,000 times since it went online, Monday, May 11 at the end of the day.

But if it is mainly based on queues filmed in France, it also includes a passage out of context, since it took place in Lebanon. From Paris to Bordeaux, via Beirut, return to the origin of these images.

FAKE OFF

The first twenty-two seconds of the video, in which we see a long queue start at the level of a store and continue outside, show a Zara store in downtown Beirut. The Lebanese press has echoed this video, which has given rise to many criticisms on social networks: it is mentioned in an article in the daily Al Joumhouria and we found traces of it on May 9 on the Instagram account of VDLNews media.

The next five seconds, filmed at the entrance to a boutique in a shopping center, are taken from a video presented on Twitter as having been filmed in Lyon.

Another video shot nearby by a Euronews journalist confirms that it was filmed in Lyon: it shows, near a closed Adidas store, the same queue in front of the Zara brand Confluence shopping center, as can be seen on its website.

The following sequence, in which a Zara store opens its gate in front of a queue formed outdoors, took place in Bordeaux, on rue Sainte-Catherine, as we can see in this tweet from an LCI reporter.
