"I am the youngest nurse in the hospital to support Hubei. I was worried that I could not be competent at first, but youth should be used to struggle to meet difficulties." On the eve of the Nurses' Day, Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine at Liutie Central Hospital in Liuzhou, Guangxi Section female nurse Liang Xuemei said in an interview.

"Post-90s" Liang Xuemei was born in a medical family with five people in his family. Liang Xuemei said: "Since I was a child, I followed my grandfather to gather herbs in the mountains. He hoped that I would be a nurse to save my life." During the college entrance examination, Liang Xuemei followed the advice of my grandfather and applied to the nursing profession of Hainan Medical College. In 2016, he officially became a nurse after graduation.

In early February, the epidemic broke out. Liang Xuemei, who just turned 26, made one of the most memorable decisions in life: signing up to support Wuhan. "At the beginning, I was afraid that I was too young to do well, but I still wanted to contribute my own strength." Liang Xuemei said. Subsequently, he became the seventh batch of Guangxi medical aid team members, and was stationed in the intensive care unit of the Union Hospital (West Hospital) affiliated to Tongji Medical College of Huazhong University of Science and Technology on February 24.

At the beginning of Liang Xuemei's takeover of the ward, the ward was basically full. In addition to most of the serious patients with new coronary pneumonia, there were 5 critically ill patients. Due to the need for layers of protection, Liang Xuemei wore three layers of gloves and fogging goggles, which was very difficult to operate. "Usually to find a blood vessel by injection is basically by touching, but wearing thick gloves can't find the blood vessel at all. It still doesn't work after 4 or 5 injections." Liang Xuemei said. When he is very anxious, the patient in turn comforts him.

Every day the medical staff is overloaded, it takes 2 hours to go back and forth from the hotel to the isolation ward, and 8 hours to prepare and work in the isolation ward. For safety, you should not drink water or eat for 10 hours. "I can't help it. I can only urinate in the diaper. I feel uncomfortable with every step I take. After finishing the first class, people are dizzy." Liang Xuemei said. After a month, he lost nearly 8 pounds.

In addition, medical staff are also under great pressure psychologically. Liang Xuemei remembered, "The first night shift to support Wuhan was when a patient died, and everything happened so suddenly and under great pressure."

During the assistance period, Liang Xuemei summed up the "most moments" every day. The most tense moment is when wearing protective clothing; the most painful moment is when going to work; the happiest moment is when taking off protective clothing; the most hungry moment is when returning from work to the ground. Liang Xuemei said, "Despite so many difficult times, when I think about the days of assistance, I still feel full and happy."

"Through this time, I feel that the post-90s generation is no longer a weak and uncontributing teenager in everyone's eyes, and the post-90s generation is also slowly growing," said Liang Xuemei. It believes that "post-90s" has its own responsibility, and youth should be the age of struggle. A few days ago, Liang Xuemei was awarded the "Excellent Communist Youth League Member of Guangxi" (New Coronary Pneumonia Outbreak Special Project).

On April 7, the joint prevention and control mechanism of the State Council held a press conference on the status of the role of nursing in the treatment of new coronary pneumonia patients and the fight against epidemics. Guo Yanhong, Supervisory Commissioner of the Medical and Medical Administration of the National Health and Health Commission, said that the post-90s nurses accounted for 40% of the Wuhan-August medical aid team in Wuhan, Hubei. The vigorous strength of the country has also set an example for young people. (Finish)
