The latest figures for the coronavirus in Spain show a number of cases diagnosed with a PCR test, which now totals 224,390, 621 more than the previous day, according to information published by the Ministry of Health, and give an important respite.

In the last 24 hours, 143 people have died from the disease in Spain, 36 fewer than yesterday and the lowest number since March 18, when 107 deaths were recorded.

The figure represents a drop of 20% compared to the deceased the previous day: 179. The 143 new registered victims raise the total number of deaths by Covid-19 to 26,621 .

In Andalusia, Aragon, the Balearic Islands, the Canary Islands, Cantabria, Castilla y León, Ceuta, Extremadura, Melilla, Murcia, Navarra and La Rioja, there have been no new entries in the ICU since yesterday. All these territories, with the exception of several health areas in Castilla y León, will enter Phase 1 of the de-escalation starting tomorrow. Nor has anyone died of coronavirus in the last 24 hours in the Canary Islands, Cantabria, Ceuta and Melilla.

The cumulative incidence in the last two weeks presents a higher rate of infections in Castilla y León (70.6 diagnosed per 100,000 inhabitants), followed by Catalonia (68.7), Navarra and Madrid (both with a rate of 51.9 ).

The data also recognizes that certain respite that the ICUs are entering and that has been announced by several regional representatives.

As for those hospitalized in the last day, there has been a slight decrease with 465 new cases, compared to 489 announced on Saturday. Admissions to intensive care units have been cut almost in half with 36 new patients who have required this care, while Saturday's data pointed to 70 admissions.

Region to region

By Autonomous Community, Catalonia and Madrid continue to show the most worrying figures with 25 deaths and 8 ICU admissions, in the first, and 46 new deaths and 12 patients who have needed intensive care in the last 24 hours, in the case of Madrid .

The Valencian Community , which maintains a large part of its territory in Phase I and has expressed its complaints to the Government for this reason, has registered 7 new ICU admissions and 8 deaths . These data have slightly worsened compared to Saturday, with 3 and 6 patients in the respective games.

As for the Basque Country, there have been 15 deaths from the virus in the last 24 hours (13, on Saturday) and 3 new admissions to the ICU (2, on Saturday).

Castilla y León, with its provincial capitals in Phase O and a de-escalation by health areas, has not had any new admission to intensive care and on Saturday it had 3 new cases. But the numbers of hospitalizations for the virus have risen to 74 (compared to 34 reported on Saturday. As for deaths, 9 were registered yesterday due to coronavirus and in today's information there are 12 new deaths .
