A last weekend of containment ...

The hour of liberation soon struck for millions of French people. But before, they will have to live this Saturday and this Sunday one last weekend under the strict regime of containment. However, the temptation to deconfinite before time has already started in certain regions. In Marseille, residents did not hesitate to brave the rules, in good conscience, to go see friends or family. Read our report here .

The end of confinement will also lead to the mass return of hundreds of thousands of Parisians, who had been in exile in the provinces for several weeks.

… Before high risk deconfinement

The deconfinement of the country promises to be high risk, however. France will be clearly cut in half on Monday, with four regions in the northeast (Île de France, Grand Est, Hauts-de-France and Bourgogne-Franche-Comté) and Mayotte in red and under enhanced surveillance, with the colleges, the parks and gardens still closed.

In transport, wearing a mask will be compulsory, under penalty of a fine of 135 euros. More than 10 million masks will also be distributed to users from Monday, including more than 4.4 million in Île-de-France. The resumption of traffic in the Ile-de-France region will also be carefully scrutinized by the authorities, which announced the closure of 60 metro stations on Monday in Paris.

SNCF, for its part, got ahead, starting on Friday to circulate mainline trains with 20% of service and the return of low-cost TGV Ouigo. From Monday, the level will reach from 40% to 50% for TER, and 32% for TGV and Intercités.

More than 26,200 dead in the country

According to the latest official report, published Friday evening by the Directorate General of Health (DGS), the virus has caused 26,230 deaths since March 1, 243 more in the last 24 hours. There were 16,497 deaths in hospitals against 9,733 in social and medico-social establishments, including the Ehpad.

The pressure on resuscitation services continues to ease, with 93 fewer serious cases.

Worldwide, nearly 272,000 deaths

The Covid-19 has killed at least 271,780 people worldwide since its appearance in December in China, according to an assessment by AFP. The United States is the most bereaved country with 76,101 deaths in more than 1.27 million cases. This is followed by the United Kingdom with 31,241 dead, Italy (30,201), Spain (26,299) and France (26,230).

In addition to the health balance, the United States is also hit hard by the economic crisis. More than 20 million jobs were lost in the world's largest economy in April, unheard of in such a short time, and the unemployment rate jumped to 14.7%, the highest since the 1930s.
