The pandemic has revealed the loss of autonomy of our large rich countries which possess nuclear weapons, are permanent members of the United Nations, but do not have the basic means to protect their populations against a virus.

The international order built under the aegis of the United States in the aftermath of the Second World War is no longer adapted to the reality of the balance of power of the 21st century. The rise of China has destabilized the whole system. China and the USA have been deploying a lot of energy since the start of the crisis. How far can it go? The United States no longer exercises the role of world leadership. At the UN, the Security Council is paralyzed. Europe's influence on the development of a post-crisis world order requires the organization of its own reconstruction.
