A new outbreak of Covid-19 contamination was discovered on May 5 in the Dordogne. At least nine cases of coronavirus were detected there after a funeral in this department classified in the green zone.
The origin of this contamination would indeed be found, according to information from Sud-Ouest and France Bleu, in a funeral recently organized at Eglise-Neuve de Vergt, near Périgueux, followed by a family reunion.
At least 103 tests performed
On May 5, a man who participated in the funeral was diagnosed positive after a visit to his doctor.
Alerted, the Nouvelle-Aquitaine regional health agency launched a search for "contact cases" among dozens of people around this man. In all, at least 103 tests were performed.
According to a report on Friday, eight people (plus this man) were positive on the first 40 analyzes reported, the ARS said. "These people are asymptomatic and isolated at home," said the prefect.
A warning against "loosening"
The Dordogne prefecture then issued a warning against "loosening" in the final stretch before the deconfinement. "We have to be very very vigilant, life is restarting but not as before," insisted Friday during a press conference with the prefect of the Dordogne Frédéric Périssat.
“It is really an illustration of what we do not want to experience in three weeks, that is to say: relaxation, family reunions, children, grandchildren, grandparents, neighbors-neighbors… We are in our thirties and, at the end of the day, a single person will contaminate a very significant number and behind, it will mobilize a lot of people "to go up and break the chain of contamination, denounced the representative of the State.
