Jessica, candidate from Koh-Lanta, the island of heroes. - Philippe LEROUX / ALP / TF1

  • Jessica, 35, was eliminated from Koh-Lanta, the island of heroes at the end of the episode broadcast this Friday on TF1.
  • She would have remained in the adventure if Régis, who had promised to ally with her, had kept his word. But she did not experience this as a betrayal "because, at the base, we had no affinities," she says to 20 Minutes .
  • Jessica lives very badly on hate messages on social networks which are targeted by some of her adventure partners. “Viewers have the right to give their opinion on how we played. But insults and death threats have no place in these dialogues, ”she insists.

She left with her head held high and with class. At the end of the episode of Koh-Lanta, the island of heroes broadcast this Friday on TF1, Jessica had to resign herself to extinguishing her torch. The 35-year-old Essonnienne, who participated in the adventure game for the second time after a first experience in 2015, could have saved her place if Régis had kept his promise to ally with her… The adventurer however reacted with fair play and pragmatism. As she confides to 20 Minutes , she has no regrets

The episode started with your tense explanation with Régis after the previous advice. He said in front of everyone that you had in mind a list of people to be eliminated. Something that you vehemently denied ... Do you hold it against him?

I have a lot of perspective on the game. Once it is finished, I make a clean sweep of what happened, I am amnesic of problems. At the time, I wanted him a lot, I was very angry. I expressed it, it had to come out because I could not suffer an injustice. There was never a list because I am unable to do this kind of thing. The strategy is not rooted in me. On Koh-Lanta , we cannot predict the future and say to ourselves "the next eliminated, it will be such a person, the following such and such and after another ..." Régis and I are going to have a good discussion. We will never have the last word of the story on this, because everyone has passed the buck. He had understood that I had implied that. Does he realize that he thought he understood things that I did not say? That's what I will ask him and then we will stop there.

Régis had agreed to make an alliance with Claude and you, before stepping down when voting on the board. He thus contributed to your elimination. Is that a betrayal?

I don't have that impression because, basically, we didn't have any affinities. I was fully aware that he was part of the yellow team. We got closer to Régis and I after the pair test, we were able to chat. There was a time when he felt the fifth wheel of the coach in his team. I was a little alone. While discussing, we tried an alliance. He had the choice to simply accept or refuse. If he said yes all the better. I had this card to play. If he said no, I wouldn't blame him. He had a moment of hesitation as for the continuation of his adventure. He decided to commit, to agree to turn to Claude and me. Even there, I did not trust. We had to have several discussions for him to reassure me, to tell me that he was on our side. But the yellow team is very tight-knit, when it felt the wind turn, and saw that Régis had the ass between two chairs, it caught it. It is legitimate. But I think that at the start Régis was sincere in his approach towards me.

Régis is one of the candidates who receive insults and threats from part of the public. What does that remind you of?

I'm touched. Even if I am not directly targeted, it concerns my comrades. These are people with whom I had a great adventure. Certainly, we make viewers pass by all the emotions, we animate their evening on Fridays ... Koh-Lanta , it's like a TV series, like when we watch La Casa de Papel and we love such a character, that we hate another, we criticize the creators because they make a character go. We are lucky to have social networks to be able to communicate with the public. Viewers have the right to give their opinion on how we played. But insults and death threats have no place in these dialogues. This has big consequences, it can be dramatic.

Do you discuss a bit of all this between candidates?

Of course. I like taking my phone and being kind to people when I feel that it is going to be a difficult episode for them, that they will be criticized. I call them, we discuss them and, conversely, they are also there when I need to speak, to discuss. We explain ourselves on certain things that have been said and we support each other.

During the debrief facing the camera, you say that you have not achieved any of the objectives that you had set yourself. Looking back, is your impression the same?

At the time, I was disappointed. I wanted to go a little further and try to get into the strategies properly. My mother, before I left said to me: "Jess, you had a great image in your first Koh-Lanta . But it is also a game and on this second, you have to be a little more strategist, without doing incorrect things. But I didn't manage to do it. I advanced a little alone in the adventure. I only had Claude by my side, Teheiura until a certain moment… Looking back, I have no regrets about the adventure, I stayed as I was. I have other skills than strategy. I fight in the tests, I like to communicate, to exchange, to laugh.

Ready to go for a third "Koh-Lanta"?

I would leave with my eyes closed! We are always ready to redo a Koh-Lanta . Most of the “Koh-Lantais” affirm it: it is an exceptional adventure. Never two without three, as they say. I strongly believe in it!
