The British rapper Ty has died this Thursday at the age of 47 due to pneumonia derived from the coronavirus . The interpreter has been in hospital since last April.
GoFundMe , the platform where funds were collected to pay for his treatment, has been the one who has reported his death. "He was admitted to the hospital with COVID19-related medical complications in early April and was induced into a coma to sedate him temporarily while on treatment, but ultimately died," they said.
In the artist's personal account on Facebook, a message has also appeared announcing Ty's death: "With great sadness we have to report the death of Ben Chijioke (Ty's real name). Close friends, family and fans are devastated by his death "
Of Nigerian origins but born in London, Ty rose to fame in 2001 after the release of his debut album, The Awkward. In 2004 he was nominated for the Mercury Award.
