American children's and youth author Jacqueline Woodson, together with Swiss illustrator and children's book author Albertine Zullo-Gros, receives this year's Hans Christian Andersen Prize of Ibby (International board on books for young people). The prize consists of a medal and a diploma and the award winners are published each year at Ibby's World Congress.

Jacqueline Woodson received the Alma Prize two years ago in Sweden and is now praised for books with "a lyrical language, strong protagonists and a lasting sense of hope".

Albertine is also usually included in the list of nominees for the Alma Prize. She receives Ibby's HC Anderson Prize for "works that express spontaneity combined with great attention to detail, endless precision and humor".
