Symbols of the city, the ramparts of Saint-Malo, usually so popular with tourists and locals, have been empty since April 3. That day, the mayor of the corsair city Claude Renoult had issued a decree to completely prohibit access. A decision made after the mayor noted “a certain relaxation” the days before, in particular because of the rise in temperatures.

From Monday, the ramparts will be accessible again, said Claude Renoult. To avoid traffic jams and to prevent people from crossing paths, a compulsory traffic direction will be set up. Access to the ramparts will also be by six stairs only and the exit by six other different stairs.

Parks and gardens reopen, beaches not

With this measure, "we will show that we are serious and that we are ready to take new steps," said the mayor on his Twitter account.

The elected official also indicates that the city's parks and gardens will reopen on Monday, notably the Briantais park which overlooks the Rance. On the other hand, the beaches will remain closed to the public, despite the sling wind that is currently blowing in Brittany.
